SAINT PANTELEIMON

The chapel is located on the border of the Limenas and Panagia areas, on the right side of the road, in an elevated location under tall pine trees. Its semicircular niche, 3.30 meters in diameter and 1.60 meters high, is lined with slate stone. The entire building has dimensions of 8.20 x 5.30 meters, with a height of 2.50 meters on the south side and 3 meters at the entrance. It was built with 0.50 meter thick stonework, while the entrance opening measures 1.75 x 1 meter. Above the entrance there is a built-in plaque with a relief cross, painted in blue. On the left side of the entrance there is a second plaque with a cross, which indicates the year of construction as 1887 and attributes the foundation of the church to the hieromonk Panaretos. Inside, a marble inscription mentions the donation of Konstantinos Kyriakides, who contributed to the beautification of the church and the construction of the staircase connecting the public road to the elevated location of the chapel. According to local tradition, an incident is reported according to which a drunken man attempted to break into the chapel, but was severely punished by the Saint, who — as it is said — beat him to death.

It was built with stones 0.80 meters thick, while in various places, such as the elbows, Christian symbols can be seen. The building has two small windows and a low entrance measuring 1.60 x 1.80 meters. The pilasters of the entrance on the south side are made of large slabs. According to local tradition, the Saint is credited with many miracles related to the village.
